Welcome to The Refuge Grappling Event!
An event that will have an artistic integrity for the martial arts community, philosophies, as well as integrating different types of arts that we believe compliment the curation of this event to make it special and unique.
As we evolve into different spaces we will offer different opportunities. As of now, we will offer Gi & No Gi brackets with an entry fee and each event will feature highlighted matches between competitors we believe have fit the criteria, make a competitive match and the winner will receive a cash prize. Our featured rule set will be an IBJJF modified rule set that eliminates advantages and will punish competitors for stalling.

Penalties
No Advantages
No Stalling or Passivity
When referee determines an athlete is stalling:
Stalling and passivity will be determined by the referee when one athlete is purposely slowing the pace, aggression, or flow of the match with no apparent strategy to progress, move to a more dominant position or set up a submission.
The referee will announce “Stalling Warning” to the athlete.
If the athlete does not make an attempt to initiate action shortly after receiving the warning, a point will be deducted.
Stalling will be enforced if any part of an athlete’s back is touching the ground for more than 5 seconds without any connection to the opponent
The competitor cannot flee or run from a guard pull, they must defend, engage or break the position. If the competitor is fleeing or running from engagement or an attack it will automatically count as stalling.
2nd Stall – Warning
3rd Stall – 2 Point Penalty
If 2 points are being deducted for stalling:
