In a triumphant display of skill and camaraderie, Strategic Academy’s students excelled at the long-awaited IBJJF New York Open. This event marked the return of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation to New York after a four-year hiatus, and the energy at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex was electric, with participants and spectators alike fully engaged.
The gym’s stellar performance was highlighted by James and Gerry, who not only secured gold and silver by closing out their division but also teamed up to close out and dominate the absolute bracket like true champs. Mercedes showcased her dedication by earning a silver medal in her weight division. But hold on, the spotlight’s not done yet. Junior, an unstoppable force, won not one, not two, but a mind-blowing four gold medals across gi and no-gi divisions, in both his weight class and open class.
The IBJJF New York Open was more than just a competition; it was a stage where our crew showcased their heart, sweat, and love for Jiu-Jitsu.
