This past weekend, Strategic Academy had a phenomenal showing at the prestigious IBJJF Pan American Championships in Kissimmee, Florida. Four of the gym’s competitors took to the mats, bringing home an impressive two gold medals and two bronze medals.
This achievement is a true testament to the dedication and commitment of both the professors and students at Strategic Academy. Jariel, in his very first IBJJF tournament as a white belt, put on a magnificent display after only six months of training under Professor Thiago Saldanha. He battled through six tough matches, winning by points and showcasing an armbar submission that ultimately secured him the gold medal in his division. Jariel’s accomplishment wasn’t the only highlight. He received the incredible honor of being promoted to a blue belt right on the IBJJF podium, a truly special moment for any athlete.
Mercedes also secured gold in her blue belt division, winning three matches by points and executing a head arm triangle submission. James added to the medal count with a phenomenal performance, taking home double bronze in both his division and the open class. These are remarkable achievements, especially considering the caliber of competition at the IBJJF Strategic Academy Claims Gold at the IBJJF Pan American Championships, which is known as the largest IBJJF tournament in the Americas.
Ismael, another competitor from Strategic Academy, although he didn’t place on the podium in his first-ever IBJJF tournament, displayed immense courage by stepping onto the mats and representing his team. The entire Strategic Academy is incredibly proud of him for taking on this challenge.
